Day 01 Arrive/Paro Meeting
and assistance on arrival at Paro Airport and transfer to Hotel for
one night. Evening take a stroll through Paro Bazar.
Day 02 Paro/Thimpu
Morning visit the Ta Dzong, an ancient
watchtower, which has been, since 1967, the National Museum of
Bhutan. Later walk down the trail to visit Rinpung Dzong
(Fortress of the Heap of the Jewels), this Dzong was historically
one of Bhutans strongest and most strategic fortresses.
After Lunch two hours drive through Paro and Thimpu valleys to the
capital of Bhutan (alt. 7,500 ft.). Enroute visit Simtokha Dzong
built by Shabdrung Nagawang Namgyal in 1627, this graceful building is
the oldest of Bhutan's fortress - monasteries and was the country's
first centre of social and religious education. On arrival in Thimpu,
check in to Hotel for one Night.
Day 03 Thimpu/Paro
After Breakfast sightseeing in Thimpu. It includes:
Visit to Tashichhodzong (Fortress of the Glorious Religion),
built in 1641 by Shabdrung Nagawang Namgyal and reconstructed in 1961,
by the Late King, His Majesty Jigme Dorji Wangchuck, who is regarded
as Father of Modern Bhutan. Then visit National Library, which
holds a vast collection of ancient Buddhist manuscripts followed by
visit to Painting school, famous for carving and free hand art.
After lunch visit National Memorial Chorten, a monument dedicated to
the Third King of Bhutan, His Late Majesty King Jigme Dorji
Wangchuck, the inside paintings and statues provide a very rare
insight into Buddhist philosophy. Then visit Handicrafts Emporium, to
see the exquisite artistry of traditional crafts and textiles and take
a stroll through streets for shopping and leisure. In the evening
drive back to Paro. On arrival check into Hotel.
Day 04 Paro/Departure
Transfer to the Airport for flight to onward
destination.
